Underwriters prop up Facebook stock to prevent it from tanking on IPO day
On the left side, you see the “bids” that are in the market for the stock. Those are the offers to buy. On the right you see the “asks”, which are asking prices by sellers. Note that next to each bid or ask there’s a “size” which is the size of the offer to buy or sell. Note two things: At the top of the left column, you see lots of bids at $38.00 on various trading platforms. (The BATS exchange, Arca, etc.). What’s more, the size of those bids are HUGE. Hundreds of thousands of shares compared to relatively tiny asks and bids everywhere else.
Should be interesting to see if they’ll still be there to save $FB on Monday.
Looking at the numbers, there’s no WAY Facebook can continue trading at such a high volume/price. People have to become skeptical of a company that is valued at 100x revenue at some point, and not just ride the (juggernaut) bandwagon that is the Facebook IPO.
But I could be wrong. There IS a first time for everything, after all.

One of about three photos that were taken on the ground during Operation Gothic Serpent.
-Operation Gothic Serpent was the mission Task Force Ranger was assigned to in 1993. Their goal was to catch Mohamed Ferrah Aidid, a local warlord who had taken control of the supply lines coming into Mogadishu, Somalia. During the mission two MH-60 Black Hawk helicopters were shot down, 18 Delta Operators and Rangers were killed in the battle, and allied forces had to be called in for support just to get the remaining men out of the city.

“In SpongeBob We Trust” is actually written on the front of New Zealand’s square SpongeBob $2 coins, which were recently created by the New Zealand Mint and Nickelodeon. The 4 bullion coins are really collector’s items, but are actually legal tender, which means you can use them to buy something in New Zealand. The nerd in me wants this for reasons.
You can go to www.spongebobcoins.com to learn more about the 35mm x 35mm coins, which in fact means they are squares.
Gold.
Someday we will find it.
